Originating from the heartland of the Normandy coast in France, Le Coutance gathers all the different flavors found in the lush pastures of Normandy where the cows are able to graze in pastures 9 months of the year, next to the Atlantic Ocean. Named after the beautiful town of Coutances, this authentic, traditional soft ripened cheese is creamy with a milky aftertaste: a true cheese-lovers delight.
Le Coutances is a rustic soft-ripened cheese with a rich, creamy paste and milky taste that develops nicely with age. It has a unique subtle flavor with its soft and yellow interior and a soft, bloomy white rind.
Le Coutances is a fantastic stand-alone cheese. Try it on a chunk of crusty French baguette or accompanied by a fresh lettuce or baby greens. It also goes very well with charcuteries and pickles. Because Le Coutances has a rich flavor, it pairs well with Bordeaux, Bourgogne or Pays de la Loire red wines. The fruitiness of the wine really compliments the cheese. It also pairs very well with French Apple Cider.

I and my wife are cheese lovers and, for the very first time, we picked-up a small round of Le Coutances du Cotentin on a whim [we found this little gem in a Loblaws/MAXI store located in Pointe-Claire Quebec]. We also chose another eight other cheeses at the same time.
Upon sampling our latest finds we happily discovered Le Coutances! FORMIDABLE! An amazing cheese. Yes, the milky flavour was there but there was also about another fifteen or twenty other subtle and delicious flavours as well. Simply astounding! Le Coutances is most probably one of the very best cheeses we have ever had the pleasure of tasting...and then devouring with relish and gusto!
