Ile de France goat cheese is a traditional fresh Chèvre from the French Rhône Alps region where goats produce distinctively rich tasting milk. This lends a creamy and slightly salty flavor to our Goat cheese, which is best enjoyed on salads or spread onto fresh baguette.
An authentic cheese rich in flavors, it should come as no surprise that in 2008 Ile de France Goat Cheese received the Chef’s Best award for Best Taste of all imported goat cheese brands by a panel of independent chefs.

Ile de France offers its Goat cheese in many delicious flavor variations. In plain form it is available in la Buchette (10.5 oz.), or La petite buche (4 oz.) size. Try it also with an aromatic blend of crushed peppercorns, or garlic and fine herbs. For added color and more intense flavor, Ile de France also brings the taste of Provence on your table: Ile de France Buchette or Petite Bûche de Provence is a blend fresh Goat cheese with black olive tapenades or sun dried tomato & basil.
In early spring, the goats are ushered to the higher slopes of the Alps to graze on the greenest grass, which, in turn, produces a flavorful, most superior milk available. During the cheese-making process the milk is left pure and uncooked, giving Ile de France goat cheese the natural sour, salty and sweet sensations that make it an award-winning favorite.
In France, production of goat cheeses dates back to the 8th century, when Arab Saracens, expelled from the Massif Central region left behind not only their goats but also recipes for making cheese from their milk. Especially common in Africa, the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions, where goats are more abundant than cows, goat cheese gets its distinctive flavor from the goat’s natural hormones and its diet. Today, France produces a great variety of goat cheese, in different shapes and sizes. Ile de France Goat cheese, known for its mild, fresh curd, is made high in the Rhône Alps. We have been proud to import to America this French Goat Cheese, made from the rich milk of grass-fed goats for many years now.
Tangy, sometimes tart, Ile de France goat cheese complements the full, fruity flavor of white wines like Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay. For reds, try a perky Zinfandel, Pinot Noir or Malbec to balance goat cheese’s salty, slightly sour profile.
In 2008, Ile de France® Petite Bûche goat cheese won the ChefsBest Award in its category. Ile de France® Le Chèvre was rated highest in overall quality among its competitors for texture, aroma character, flavor intensity, and many more features. The chèvre also was rated highest for taste balance as well as sweet and salt intensity. Now Chefs and consumers all agree: Ile de France Le Chèvre is Best.
·Goat cheese, also called chèvre, can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. When goat
cheese begins to get old, you can lengthen its shelf life by placing it in a small bowl and covering
with a few tablespoons of olive oil. The oil will keep it moist and fresh; as well add an intriguing
flavor to the cheese.
·Unless you want to crumble it over salad, always remove cheese from the refrigerator about 30
minutes before serving to achieve the right temperature and consistency. Goat cheese will soften
enough to be spreadable.
·When you want to cut a goat cheese log into discs, use a knife dipped into hot water; the heat
helps cut through the moist cheese so it doesn't fall apart.
