I didn't enter this contest because I almost never enter contests that are based on popular voting. But I would never complain about such contests. They just aren't for me, but others enjoy them and they certainly drive traffic to a site. Those who get out there and "churn the waters" to get all their friends and family members to vote -- more power to 'em. They work hard at it and deserve to have a crack at winning. I hope you do other contests for those like me who are too lazy to do much more than fill out a quick entry form. :-) But whether you do or not, I'm still going to be enjoying Ile de France cheeses. I've been enjoying them for years and I'm certainly not going to stop now! :-)

We appreciate all the comments regarding the contests and understand the concerns with the judging portion. We've taken this into consideration - for this contest, there were four winners, First place, Second place and third place designated by the number of votes received, and a Chef's Choice winner based on composition and originally chosen by our Chef here at Ile de France. In the future, we will continue to recognize winners based on both merit and voting.

I feel compelled to give my thoughts because of all the negative comments that I have read here today about this contest. First off I want to say that I love your cheese. I entered your contest and I recieved over 500 votes. Votes that I did not have to pester or beg my family and friends to do. I simply asked my family, told my regular customers that I come in contact with, and sent a mass email to friends not threatening their life in any way. That means over 500 people now know about Ile De France cheese. Actually Id say over 1000 now know because some Im sure some didnt even vote. They know the name. They even asked me to repeat myself when I said Ile De France cheese. The next time they happen to be in the cheese section shopping for cheese and see the Ile De France cheese they will recall knowing the name Ile De France, therefore more likely to pick that brand up. Im going to venture to say that at least 10 percent of these people (which are my friends and family) are going to try your cheese. I know this because some have already told me they have went out and bought it. My father called me today to tell me that one of our old friends went out and got an Ile De France brie wheel and tried my recipe. She loved it. My recipe was EXTREMELY simple. Nothing to even brag about. The point here is that if the company does something to bring people to thier site why complain about it? If you dont want to enter then dont. If you feel its a popularity contest then move on. Why be negative about the way the company chooses to do its advertising?

I love your cheese. Like many of the others I did not enter this contest because of the online voting. Please judge my recipe(s) on their merit and not by how popular I am.

I feel the same way. I would have entered this contest (and I enter a lot and do fairly well), but the public voting is a popularity contest not a win based on the best recipe.

I too would have loved to enter your contest since I love your cheeses and have some great recipes. The problem is the online voting. There is absolutely no way I would pester my family and friends to vote for me. I want to win a recipe contest because I am an innovative and accomplished cook, not because I managed to garner the most votes. In my opinion, any contest that is set up this way is not worth my time or effort.

While I do love your cheeses, my local megamart carries them in their deli kiosks I echo the voice of the commenter that stated that having voting by the general public is nothing more than popularity contests and one would think that you would prefer judging by competant judges as most important recipe competitions are.

You can find any kind of cheese to go whatever your having or whatever the event you having from wedding showers to baby showers it all goes with cheese.

I would have entered, but then I noticed that voting would be involved. I would feel awful badgering my friends and family for votes every day.
I love this cheese brand and buy it monthly, but won't enter a contest unless the winner is decided on talent/merit/etc.
