Yeah I noticed that too (pizza at the top of the list) Seemed like that one just kinda showed up one day, then started taking all the votes. Something seems very fishy.

That pizza entry came in very late days after all of the other entries, and somehow she has 700+ votes and like 5 stars? something is not right there....... Doesnt seem fair.

I just re-read the rules and realized that I was incorrect about the prizes. They are identical for both the voting and the judging phases of this contest. I apologize for stating them incorrectly in my previous post.

I run a sweepstakes/contest website (www.SweepsU.com) and I love to enter recipe contests. They are my favorite! But I have to agree with the people commenting about a voting competition setup as yours is. You are asking them to work hard to develop good recipes for you, yet you are offering the biggest prizes to the people who can recruit the most votes. Three people will win $500 due to popularity while only one $500 winner will go to a person who worked hard to give you their best creation. A gourmet prize pack for two runners-up is not quite the same as $500 cash. The message you are giving loud and clear is that you are more interested in getting new people to come to your website than you are in receiving good quality recipes.

Perhaps in the future you could do the judging first and put only the top recipes out for public voting or distribute all of the prizes through judging with a small portion of the criteria being popular votes brought in. I would suggest 30% or less.

Regardless, I will work on a recipe to submit even though I do not care for begging my friends and family to vote any more that the others. Maybe I will be the one to come up with that single recipe that receives $500 for creating the best one according to your judging panel. There is always hope!
