The classic grilled cheese sandwich is more popular now than ever before. The recent article in Nyulocal.com describes a number of fabulous grilled cheese spots in the city, including Melt Shop, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese and Murray’s Cheese. Moreover, there’s a new restaurant in New York City that specialized in grilled cheese sandwiches – Little Muenster.

Of course, these aren’t the only places to get a great grilled cheese in New York and beyond. A lot of cities in the USA cater to grilled cheese lovers. Among the most popular of them: Grilled Cheese Kitchen in San Francisco, Birchwood Kitchen in Chicago, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese in Boston, Ruthie’s Rolling Café in Dallas and others!

While these are all delicious options, there’s an easier way to get a grilled cheese: Make it at home! So for those who don’t like to go out and prefer to enjoy homemade food we have a bunch of cheese grilled recipes on our website.

One of our favorites is Duck Fat and Garlic “Toasted” Camembert Mini Grilled Cheese.

24 slices of Baguette

1/2-3/4 cup Duck Fat (can be purchased)

5 cloves of Garlic (or to taste)

Ile De France Camembert Cheese

Dried Thyme

Water to blanch garlic.

Follow our simple recipe and in less than 15 minutes you’ll enjoy fantastic Grilled Cheese sandwiches.

Bon appetit!

The young participants will earn a solid wage, develop job skills, learn entrepreneurial principals and get involved in marketing, menu and staffing decisions related to the bus.

Through a Kickstarter campaign, the group has been fundraising for months to acquire financial donations and community support! As soon as the bus is profitable, donations will be made to community projects that improve the planet and work for equity and justice.

By the way, the bus will be locatable via GPS soon! So, stop by for a social gourmet delight!

It’s no joke – April is National Grilled Cheese Month!

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

You surely know that April 1st is April Fools’ Day. But did you know that it’s also the start of National Grilled Cheese Month?

Actually we don’t know if it is a real holiday because there is no official source of information. Is it a real government sanctioned commemoration? A campaign of cheese marketers? Or just a myth?

Wherever it comes from, grilled cheese indeed has a great history with its origin in the 1920s when inexpensive sliced bread and cheese became easily available. Grilled cheese sandwiches became popular during the Great Depression as people were short of money.

Nowadays, those sandwiches can be found in many creative ways on our restaurant menus.
For many of us it is a staple of childhood. Don’t you remember your mom making grilled cheese sandwiches as a quick and easy afternoon snack? Wasn’t it one of the first meals you cooked by yourself because it’s just so easy to make? We think that everyone of us has it’s own personal grilled cheese history.

So, why not devote a whole month to one of America’s most popular meals? You can participate in this culinary celebration by making one of our original gourmet grilled cheese recipes:
