It’s Time for Fall Beers (and Cheese!)

Fall seasonal beers – which are more flavorful and substantial compared to lighter summer beer – are getting more and more popular.

Traditionally, one of the best complements for any beer is a nice flavorful cheese, and that’s especially true with robust fall seasonal beers. They naturally taste great together!

They complement each other because they share some common characteristics in both aroma and flavor. The carbonation in beer lifts the palate and brings out many nuances in cheeses.

So before savoring an invigorating fall seasonal beer and cheese pairing let’s think how can we combine them. First and foremost use your own personal preference whether you are cooking with cheese or just savoring alone.

Try pairing complex beers with complex cheeses. You can also try and make a perfect match or play around and make subtle contrasts. For instance, delicious and bold Pumpkin beer makes a perfect match with bleu cheese, such as Roquefort or Bleu d’Auvergne – the saltiness of the cheese is an excellent contrast to the sweet notes of the pumpkin beer.
